A Dark Red Riding Hood Fairytale Retelling

The enemy of my enemy… is still my enemy. Right?
I’m not so sure anymore.

The Scarlet Order’s sole job is to eliminate the main threat to peace: werewolves. They’ve slaughtered many and are responsible for so many deaths. It’s my job to eradicate them, as well as my sisters in arms. One by one, we’re destined to end the fear that werewolves have brought upon us.

I’ve trained my entire life in service to the sisterhood. The red cloaks gave me purpose so when my commander summoned me for my first mission alone, I was ready. Sent off to a town I didn’t know and tasked with investigating the murders there. The rumor mill had spread quite a bit around, but like everything, we couldn’t be too sure if the rumors were accurate. So, I went, and what I discovered nearly destroyed my world. Beau made me question my entire existence and I’m not okay with that.

Beau

She thought I didn’t know what she was, but from the very moment she walked into my store I knew. She was sent by the Scarlet Order. They all have the same look in their eyes when they’re being pushed out of the nest. I’ve seen it many times before. She isn’t the first one to come here and I doubt she’ll be the last.

A rogue wolf came through this area not too long ago and stirred up a lot of trouble. I’ve made it my life’s mission to keep everything safe here, and the wolves that reside within the town. They’re good people, and they don’t deserve to be crucified. As their Alpha, their safety is my number one concern. But this woman, she’s determined to uproot the haven I’ve created. I’ll stop her, no matter what the cost.

At least, it’s what I thought. She was my sworn enemy, so why did I save her?

That was the moment that everything changed between us.
